The comfort of customers and shopkeepers in the Sant Antoni market in Barcelona is guaranteed thanks to the Airtècnics air curtains installed in the 16 entrances to the market, located at each of the four ends of the Greek cross that forms the ground floor of the building.
The popular establishment, with a multitude of retail stalls, is a construction by the architect Antoni Rovira i Trias, completed in 1882 and which formed part of the Cerdà plan for the redevelopment of Barcelona.
From 2009 to 2018, the emblematic building underwent renovations in order to recover the splendour it had lost in previous renovations and to modernise the facilities. Was after complaints from some traders when Airtècnics air curtains were installed.
The models chosen were Recessed Compact in 12 automatic doors. And 2500 mm Windbox air curtains were installed in the four large doors in the central part of the market. In this way, the draughts that are generated in a building with this physiognomy are eliminated.
In addition, the air conditioning of the market is substantially more economical due to the energy savings that the air curtains provide. By creating an invisible barrier when the doors are opened, there is no air exchange between the inside and the outside.
All the renovations and improvements carried out by the architectural firm in charge of the project have earned it several awards over the years, such as the "Three Diamonds from Mitsubishi", awarded the 6th edition for being one of the most efficient buildings during that year and with the greatest projected energy savings thanks to its more sustainable installations.
