Airtècnics has been researching and innovating for years in air purification to improve indoor air quality. Different technologies have been developed that, in stand-alone products or applied to fans, help the active sanitization of the indoor environment.
Now it is going one step further. In collaboration with Tekniker, has developed a unique Sol-gel formulation. It consists of a coating that, when applied to the fans and with the action of an ultraviolet LED, disinfects and rids the air passing through it of contaminants.
This solution is based on the principle of photocatalysis that was achieved with the patented Kleenfan technology, but its costs are drastically reduced as it is obtained by less expensive and more reliable means. Photocatalysis is based on the natural principle of decontamination of nature itself. It is a natural phenomenon, safe for humans, which, imitating photosynthesis, accelerates a photoreaction through the action of light on a catalyst.
In other words, it is a photochemical reaction that converts solar energy into chemical energy on the surface of a catalyst, in this case a metallic semiconductor material, that accelerates the reaction rate. During the process, oxidation and reduction reactions take place. This promotes the elimination of most of the pollutants in the environment.
Due to its characteristics, it mineralizes most of the pollutants present in urban areas produced by vehicles and industry, such as carbon monoxides and nitrogen and sulfur oxides, as well as formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds.
After the tests, it was concluded that Sol-Gel obtains the same results as Kleenfan technology eith TiO2, in terms of air purification, using less energy resources and with a more sustainable environmental impact in the production process.
