EC fan with filters in clean rooms

Tuesday 04 January 2022

There are certain sectors where dust and other pollutants are detrimental to production, and ventilation systems with filter stages are the perfect ally to prevent particles and residues of volatile compounds in the air.

In the electronics industry, which is growing at a very fast pace due to the technical progress in society, in companies with packaging plants, or also in the pharmaceutical industry, clean rooms or rooms with high air quality are required due to the hygiene standards they have to comply with.

Infographics of a clean room with fan filtersIn air handling units and ventilation boxes, centrifugal and PlugFans with EC technology are distinguished by their high efficiency, low noise level and small size.

Cleanroom technology

In recent decades, clean rooms have become increasingly important for the manufacture of electronic components (semiconductors, optical and laser technology, etc.), in the aerospace industry and in research laboratories. In these spaces, which must be sterile, temperature, humidity and pressure conditions should be constant. Controllable, energy-saving EC fans are ideal for maintaining the desired environmental conditions.

Fan Filter Unit (Fan Filter Unit)

A fan filter unit generates a constant air flow and provides the clean room with particle-free air. For this purpose multi-stage filter systems are required. EC fans generate the necessary air flow and work with sufficient power to pass through the different filters and supply a constant air volume. Ventilation boxes with filter stages are usually installed in the false ceilings of cleanrooms. Energy-saving EC fans are an important component and help to reduce energy consumption and costs.

Laminar flow box

There are cabins, which can be mobile or fixed in clean rooms, which are used to protect the product and/or people at the same time. Equipped with double suction centrifugal fans with EC technology, they draw the air through a pre-filter and convey it to a high performance HEPA filter. They are specifically designed to generate a controlled airflow (vertical or horizontal depending on the need) that protects the production or handling process within the workspace from the environment.

What are HEPA filters and how do they work?

Miniatura.jpg

HEPA filters are a system for retaining volatile particles present in the air, generally made of fibreglass. These randomly arranged fibres are extremely fine and form a mesh-like lattice that retains contaminating compounds. HEPA stands for "High Efficiency Particle Arrester" and is also known as absolute filters. They were developed in 1950 by ...
