Enclosed spaces where animals live, especially in pet shops or veterinary clinics, require special mechanical ventilation conditions with frequent air renewal to ensure a healthy environment. It is essential that the air handling units are efficient and upgraded with EC FanGrid to operate at maximum performance.
In this retrofit project, an AHU in an educational centre has been upgraded with a renovation EC FanGrid to cover air renewal needs of approximately 18,000 m3/h. It has been designed with the ability to reserve 25% of power to achieve a performance of 25,000 m3/h, if conditions require it.
The configuration of the in-line fan arrangement is 2×2, in total four EC motor fans with 355 mm diameter free bearing and aluminium impeller. This refurbished AHU reduces its energy consumption by more than 48% while maintaining the same performance. Our partners from Rosenberg France obtained this project.
In addition, one of the most remarkable advantages of ECFanGrid is the redundancy of the EC fans: if one fan in the installation fails, the other three independent fans have the capacity to take over the supply work for which the AHU is configured.
Redundancy prevents the AHU from shutting down, which is essential in places with demanding air quality and renovation requirements.
But there are more benefits to retrofitting air handling units to modern in-line fan systems. One of the most significant is the reduction of energy consumption. There are projects where savings of more than 50% are achieved.
Briefly, by reducing energy consumption, CO2 emissions are substantially reduced, making it an environmentally friendly measure.
The cost and time of maintenance are significantly reduced: fan belts are eliminated, replacement of parts due to wear and tear such as bearings, oils, etc. is avoided.
The retrofit projects are supplied as complete kits including fans, adapter plates, electrical connection cabinet, flow regulator and constant pressure.
